Training Opportunities

The Georgia Cities Foundation, in partnership with the University of Georgia conducts four basic Downtown Development Authority training sessions for authority board members each year. Georgia law requires all members of Downtown Development Authorities (DDA) in office appointed or reappointed after January 1, 1992 (except for elected officials serving on the board) to attend eight hours of training on downtown development and redevelopment programs within the first 12 months of being appointed to a downtown development authority. Three of the training sessions are held in conjunction with Georgia Municipal Association’s training events and one training session is conducted in conjunction with the Georgia Downtown Annual Conference in the fall of each year.
